Welcome parents to our brand new Growth Mindset Webpage! This year we have started a new initiative to help develop our students' young minds called Growth Mindset. Mindset was discovered by Stanford University professor Carol Dweck after years of research on student achievement. She discovered two basic mindsets: growth and fixed. In the fixed mindset people believe that talent and intelligence alone are the factors for success and often have difficulties with perseverance when faced with a task that is difficult. Those with a growth mindset believe they can grow as learners through hard work and effort. Our teachers are cultivating the growth mindset by reinforcing effort, positive self-talk and goal setting. In order for students to truly develop this growth mindset they will need reinforcement at home and at school. Please take the time to explore this website and the various resources available for you to use at home. Thank you for your time--happy mind growing!
